Brake caliper painting...

Featured Replies

I've recently been looking to get my brake calipers painted but was informed that this could invalidate the warranty? This is the first time I've heard this so just wondered if anybody else had been given that advice? I'm not looking at doing this myself, but taking it to a professional and it was them that actually recommended that I check before they do the work. Any thoughts?

If your car is 2020 then you don't have very long left on the warranty even if it was to affect it, which personally I doubt it would.

There could be an arguing case if you were trying to claim for a damaged or seized up brake caliper but it could not be used as a reason to void your warranty if for example the battery was to fail.

That's what I was thinking. End of the day it's just a cosmetic upgrade, there's nothing wrong with the actual calipers themselves apart from a bit of discolouration.

I'll probably just hang on till the warranty as expired to be on the safe side. What they said was any issue with suspension, wheel bearing, tyre pressure monitors brakes etc they could refuse to do the work...

I suppose there's a chance that some kinds of paint would attack the rubber boot, allowing water ingress to an area where it is critical that it be kept kept dry.
