Focus MK4.5 LED Headlight Levelling Update

Have Focus ST MK.45 2023 2.3 Manual with Matrix Led lights. Had this very problem last night. Driving home down country lanes I could not see far ahead. Standard halogen on old car was better. It was like driving in foggy conditions.

I pulled over turned engine off. Opened car door. Turned lights off with the dial. Locked and unlocked the car.  Fired engine. The headlight came on immediately didn't do the sweep left right down up to calibrate - normally it would do this . Had to drive on with limited headlight beam range.

Got home left car in drive for 20mins locked. Got in car. Fired engine and lights did the sweep left right down up. Problem solved. Seems like the car has to go into a cold shutdown.

Contacted Fords in Guildford Surrey. Never heard of problem checked service actions said nothing doing

Rang Ford Customer Services they said the same.

1) Out of interest would people be prepared to share the dealer name where they said they did know about it so I can tell the dealers down here about it. Have to say Ford Customer service are useless they defer to dealers for everything. No central pool of knowledge.

2) Sneaky separate issue -  I know on this Mk4.5 to reset sync 4 you can hold volume down and the seek right button to reboot stereo. Does anyone know how to get into diag mode on sync4. Saw a video of someone pressing volume down and seek left. They got a speaker test. I cant get that to work? ->

Gates of St. Albans: My Focus 2022 headlights drop to lowest point and makes the car undriveable on unlit roads. It does this at least once every two months. Needs to be left for an hour then OK. Anyway they failed to resolve issue since Dec 2022. Will contact them and ask about the update. NOTE: you could be fined by police for having incorrect headlights alignment if stopped at night when lights drop to lowest point.

I had the software update on my focus mk4.5. So far the headlights have not dropped.

I not impressed with how the beam looks though, reminds me of two castle turrets.....Two square blocks........oh and by they way, the headlights on your focuses drops when the engine is switched off, not on start up.... anyway, mine seems to be OK now....

I’m sure my headlights are too low but local ford dealer says they’re fine can I get your opinion here. It’s a 69 plate focus. Thanks

I don't know anything about the "Ford Model: Vaughan" but if it is anything like my Focus 2019 model then I'd say those headlights look exactly like mine.

The Ford dealer, as will every garage, has a proper headlight alignment tool. If they say it's OK, it'll be OK...

if its a RHD car (aka UK car, driving on the left) why does it illuminate more of the road on the right ?

that's back to front

lets not worry about the dubious pavement illumination its meant to have (on the left) which looks wrong, but might just be the height of the grass making it appear strange.. but if this is dipped beam (must be ?) why does it clearly reach 5m further dazzling road users on the other side of the road?

I’m taking my car to Ford today to have this update applied. I’m hopefully this will sort my issues

My car is back from the garage, and they confirmed that I was right about the lights needing an update, as mentioned in this forum post. I appreciate all the helpful information provided!
