Ford Focus Estate (2001) 1.6 Zetec catalytic converter repla

Featured Replies

Hi there, I am the owner of a Ford Focus Estate 1.6 Zetec which refuses to die even at 97,000 miles

However, at my last MOT the garage indicated that it was unlikely to pass another MOT without needing to replace the catalytic converter.

I've heard horror stories about the cost of them and in fact given the car has next to no value I am reluctant to spend a ton of dough on it.

However, when I search for replacements I get companies offering them for about £130-150 which I think is more than worth it to keep the car running

Is this the kind of expenditure (not including fitting) which I can expect or am I looking at the wrong thing?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, that sounds about right.  Emissions requirements weren't so tight in 2001 so required fewer precious metals in cats.

Cheap cats won't last as long as the originals - but at 22 years old, I don't think that's a major concern on this car.

There are a few options for your year, so if you're not totally sure which one you need, post your reg and we can double check.
