Watched Tesla charging, quite amusing!

Featured Replies

Whilst parked up in BP station waiting for her indoors to do some shopping, I watched a Tesla stop at the only recharging station. By the time he fettled with his app, then tapping his charging flap for ages to get it to open, then messing around with some adapters, it took 7 minutes before it started. Yep, I reckon this EV lark could take off 🤣🤣🤣

EV's are only a stepping stone to hydrogen internal combustion engines because there is not enough infrastructure or materials to make the required batteries, so hybrids are the way to go at the moment, very quick from a standing start and good mpg too

Not quite true.  It's Hydrogen fuel cells that are the way forward.  Hydrogen IC still produces NOx emissions which is the main one that ULEZ is trying to remove from built-up areas.

Blimey I didn't think I'd see posts here on EV's hydrogen etc etc.

Geez. The number of these types of threads that got stopped by the forum police over there in Lexus land was unbelievable. Mind you we had some effin good arguments lol.

Not getting involved if I see any more on here. 🤐

Yep, I'm surprised someone hasn't yet pointed out that the flux capacitor is the way to go!

You should be ok to join in the fun in the thread @StephenFord mentions above.😀

I don't have the patience to read 94 pages of a thread anymore Eric. I read the last 2 pages of that thread and thought ruddy hell that's waaaaaaaay of topic.

Anyway I'm too much of a stalwart petrol head and am Totally against being forced into an EV when they're Not as ecological as they're spouted out to be.

10 years use before they become net zero. Never mind where the nickel comes from. Yeah them countries with dodgy human rights and young kids dying digging up nickel for greedy gits who don't give a ratz ***** except for HUGE profit.

Rant over.

No, no, no, this sucker's electrical!  It just needs a chemical reaction to produce the 100 kilowatts needed to propel a family hatchback to the supermarket.

Now Tom, I'm not being pedantic, but wasn't it 1.21GW that was needed? Oh, wait a minute, that was time travel, you're right, 100Kw should take you to Asda OK LOL

Surely it depends how far the asda in question is doesn't it?

The kilowatt figure just shows how much weight it can pull.  It's the kilowatt hour that determines how far it can pull that weight using the energy stored in a battery.

(Though the humorous part of my quote was about a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle - so technically it'd be measured in miles per kilogram of Hydrogen in that case... )

I was trying to be sarcastic Tom. Obviously I failed lol.

As for hydrogen fuel cell. I'm 110% for it.
