Ford Focus mark one rear suspension mounting

Featured Replies

Dear forum members im

enquiring if a Ford Focus mark one rear suspension mounting and two rear bushes is easy to get hold of .

or if not is easy to fix weld

Hi,

Is this because of MOT failure?  If so, can you provide the exact failure wording?  There are a few different rear bushes.

If it's the rear subframe you need, they can be bought for around £200 if it can't be welded.  You may be able to source a used one for around half that at a breakers yard.

I'd be cautious of a health check.  They are mainly used by garages to upsell work.  If it hasn't been mentioned on MOT, it can't be that bad.

Suspension mounting often means the chassis.  That would need a cut & weld repair as it's not a removable part.

The rear arm bushes are usually the ones that fail.  They are readily available but difficult the replace once they've rusted in.  Probably quicker and cheaper just to cut them off and replace both rear arms with new bushes already fitted.  You should have 4 wheel alignment done after that.

Personally I would suggest not having any work done until you know exactly which parts the health check is referring to.

In all my years of pottering about cars, I have never heard of a 'back' floor and a 'middle' floor?

Rust under the rear springs would be on the lower arms.  That's also where the most likely worn bushes are.

You can buy a pair of rear arms with bushes for under £100.

One example here but there are plenty to choose from on eBay or other parts websites.
