Featured Replies

Dear forum members I keep putting in key code to 5000 set by putting code in by first four pre set numbers on the set then pressing preset button five but it keeps not working and saying waiting

Are you 100% certain that is the correct code? It may be in the handbook, but if the head unit has been changed in the last 20 years, it may have changed. If you get it wrong 3 consecutive times, it will lock you out for a certain time before allowing you to try again.

FOC rules don't allow us to give you an unlock code for security reasons. However if you tell me the serial number of your radio and also the code that you are using I can confirm if that is correct or that you have the wrong code.

It got changed approximately 6 years

because last head unit was chewing cassettes

same code worked in past tho

Does it actually allow you to enter a code, or does it just have a permanent message on screen saying, 'waiting'?

I guess since it's been 2 weeks since you were last here the lack of a radio is not a priority.

So the same code worked in the past and now it doesn't. Do you have a plan on what to do next ?

This may help direct next step...

My Ford radio says “Wait”

When the “Wait” message appears it means you entered a wrong activation code, allow 30-60 minutes for this message to disappear, following this you should be given another entry attempt.

My Ford radio says “Locked”

If your radio says Locked then it means you have entered 10 incorrect codes, when this happens you may be able to have another 3 and final entry attempts, simply press 6 for about 10 seconds to have another 3 goes. Please note, 3 more failed attempts after this will result in a permanent lock.

My Ford radio says “Locked 13”

Bad news, if your radio says Locked 13 it means you have made 13 failed code entry attempts. When this happens, you need to either buy a new radio unit or go to a main dealership to get this fixed.

Who on earth is charging you £25 to take the radio out? Get on youtube and watch some videos on how to do it your self, with the proper keys (really really cheap - try Ebay) it'll take 10 seconds to remove.

Once removed you can read the serial number on the label, then you can take up @unofix kind offer to see if you are inputting the correct code or not.

REMOVAL

or

Not even a need to remove the radio to get the serial number-

  • Press and hold the preset buttons 1 & 6 or 2 & 6 then turn the radio on
  • Let go of the preset buttons once the radio is powered up
  • Look for the serial number beginning with V or M followed by six numbers
  • If the serial number is not displayed only then will you need to remove the radio from the dash.

You can quite easily get the code from various websites or from ebay for a couple of pounds.

Apparently this does not work with the 5000 unit, you need to read the label... (the button pressing works with my 6000)
