Best mods for a 1.4 fusion

Hello everyone. In a couple of months ill get my drivers license and i have a facelifted 1.4 fusion with the 5 speed manual and pretty much basic spec.the radio was shorted out so it needsa new one but it has 106km and its pretty impecable mechanically. First of all i want to adress the absolutely asmatic engine. Not heavy mods but aroun 100ish hp should be enough to move it around faster than a snail's pace. Also what upgraded brakes should i look at. More for safety rather than outright performance. Perhaps some decent lowering springs too? I know nothing about it so i have no ideea whats are some popular mods. Also what stereo upgrade could i get within a decent price range should i get because the stock one was horrendous even when it was working
