FF 2010 cant spare key

Featured Replies

Hi after battery disconnecting I cant spare key for remote control .

I think key is defective because I hear only one beep when go 4 times to 2 nd position of ignition but after that I cant get any respond by clicking key buttons .

Or is there some fuse for that ?

Battery is good and polarity too.

Did the key work OK before disconnecting the battery?

No fuse for key function.

Yeah . All was ok before removing battery from key and car .

I can lock only by key and side lights dont blink when I lock the car .

In some YouTube videos they use that method for sparing but they got second beep when they push the key button but I dont get it .

Now is that the 'key' battery or the car battery? When you say it's good (if key) is it punching out 3.3v, or are you just guessing it's, 'good'?

OK just re read your post. Exactly what fault were you trying to cure in the beginning?

Key battery - I measured voltage and its over 3 V and I tried to buy new battery but it didnt help.

Car battery - 12.4- 12.6 V its good

I got my car to mechanic and he tried diagnose my car fault when it died in on the road . He said that its imobilizer fault what he saw in his diagnostic tool  so I tried disconnect battery to remove ECU faults and measure key battery . But it wasnt that - fuel pump was dead .  Then I realized that remote doesnt work .

So I tried to spare it without success.

Sorry, what do you mean by, 'spare' it?

* pair it . Pair the key to the car.

mmm... so, it worked prior to the car battery being disconnected, then the remote failed to work. And your solution was to try and re pair it to the car?

Yea . Some people said that they removed car battery for few days and their remote control  was still working after that.

I'm having an issue connecting, cause and effect. The disconnecting of your car battery should not effect your remote key whatsoever. Do you have 2 x 'remote' keys or just the one main one, and a working blade key?

  • Author

Only 1 original remote and 1 blade key .

Can I assume both keys start the car OK?

  • Author

Yeah both start the car .

Right, I'm taking a break now LOL Your remote isn't operating correctly, 9 out of 10 times it's the fob battery, either it doesn't pump out 3.3v, (around 3v gives issues), or the battery connection inside the fob are not connecting the battery properly.

If anyone else wants to leap in and help, feel free... 😀

I  bent  those contacts when I was checking that key . They should have better contact than when the remote was working.

Buttons are OK. I measured them by multimeter .

@unofix may drop in if he has a moment, he was very good in a previous post spotting an errant battery contact...

Looking at the remote and the battery everything looks fine from the photos.

Below is a video on how to programme the remote with the car.

  • Author

Yeah I did it like in the video but I got only to the program mode and  when I press the buttons I dont hear any sound.

Disconnect your CAR battery for 10 minutes. Reconnect the car battery and then press any button on the remote keyfob.

I did that, doesnt work . I had disconnected battery for about 12 hours for charging out of a car

I need to think 🤔
