Rattle from engine until clutch pedal is pressed.

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, there is an annoying rattle from the engine on our Fiesta. If the clutch pedal gets pressed it then goes away. Any ideas, how easy to remedy, cost would be appreciated.

The clutch was replaced a couple of years ago but the warranty for that has run out. The car has only done 22,000 miles. It was my Dad’s he was driving it into his late nineties, he has since passed away.

He did turn into the classic older driver, revs on the red line and clutch pedal half way up. There’s the reason for the premature clutch change.

Again, any help/advice will be welcome.

Mike.

My guess is the clutch release bearing has failed. Was the replacement clutch a genuine Ford one, or just a cheap aftermarket unit ?

I think you're going to have to fit a new clutch again.

Morning, it was a Mr Clutch job, which probably means non genuine.

With it being iB5 it's probably the input shaft bearing

Hello, thanks for coming back.

Forgive my ignorance but is that a big job?
