Do I have DAB radio wiring?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Mk8 1.1, from December 2017. I haven't seen the label in the head unit itself, but I'm pretty sure it's a xxxx-xxxxx-HUxx, instead of a x-DABHU. I tried enabling DAB in Forscan and all I got was a fancy DAB button added to the audio sources screen, but it did nothing.

If I'm not mistaken, the black fakras connector is for the AM/FM, while the white one is for DAB radio, am I correct in this? Well, the white connector is there, and it seems to be connected to the aerial amplifier in the tailgate. And it looks like it's using the defrost wiring as an antenna too? 😶

I've been reading other posts here, a Mk8 and a Mk7.5, from people that, to their surprise, they just installed a DAB head unit and it just worked after enabling it in Forscan.

Could this be my case too? I know I have the "regular" aerial on the roof, with just two wires, instead of the 3 the DAB aerial uses. But still...that white (DAB?) connector in the aerial amplifier... What do you guys think?

Cheers!

The heated rear window is used as the aerial to receive FM. The roof aerial receives AM and DAB

You should be able to receive the DAB service if you install a DAB receiver.

So is it white fakra for DAB/AM Black fakra for FM?
