Why does drivers door sound different?

Featured Replies

When I close my drivers door, on my 2013 mk7.5 3 door zetec, it sounds very different from the passenger door.

It just sounds really hollow....almost like a rattle.

There isn't an issue with alignment I don't think. All the locks click OK and line up fine.

Could there be something in the door making it sound hollow? Is there sound deadening inside that may be missing?

Door skin has possibly been replaced in the past and a new sound deading pad has not been bonded to the inside of the door skin.

Thanks unofix. Is this something that I could fix myself?

Yes, but you will need to remove the door card and then carefully remove the plastic membrane to gain access to the inside of the door.

You will then need to obtain a sound deading pad (possibly from a bodywork repair company) it will need bonded to the inside of the door skin with impact adhesive.
