Featured Replies

Hi peeps

I have a 2019 focus 2.0 st- line auto

it’s throwing warnings up everywhere

parking assist failure

hill start  basically every extra is listening as failed , cars now not running and stuck in park

any help and info would be much appreciated

andy

Hi Andy and welcome to the forum.

Does your car start at all? Has this issue just come on in the last few hours or days or weeks?

Have you measured the voltage of the battery?

You possibly have a knackered battery. Weird though as your car is quite new.

Do you have Forscan? See what error codes you get.

Happened on Thursday, been and put a new battery on , I’ve been waiting on the aa to recover the vehicle since , problem being it’s stuck in park , they haven’t heard of things like wheel dollies to assist in recovery 😂, I can get it to run but it won’t let any function’s work, I’ll hopefully get it back this millennium and dig a little deeper

I take it it's a 2.0 TDCI?  So 8 speed auto?  The handbook shows this procedure to move from Park to Neutral in an emergency.  It does require good battery voltage though, so may not work in this case.

  1. Bring your vehicle to a complete standstill.
  1. Press and hold the brake pedal.
  1. Shift into neutral (N).
Note:   A message appears in the information display.
  1. Press the manual (M) button.
Note:   A confirmation message appears in the information display when your vehicle has entered Stay in Neutral mode.
  1. Release the brake pedal.
  1. Switch the ignition off.
The transmission returns to park (P) if the vehicle battery charge is low.
Note:   Prolonged use of the Stay in Neutral mode could cause the vehicle battery to run out of charge.
To exit Stay in Neutral mode, press the brake pedal and shift into park (P), or start the engine and shift into drive (D) or reverse (R).

I’ve tried everything, it’s like nothing is communicating with the car , was promised it would definitely be recovered today but I’m not holding my breath

ps thanks for the reply

Tbf I wouldn't risk moving it on dollies stuck in park.  Too much scope for gearbox damage.

Would be safer to lift it instead but I'd still be concerned about the body movement with the wheels strapped to the loader.

I missed the fact you've already put a new battery on it earlier.  Sounds like a module fault or wiring damage.  Unusual at this age but could be from water ingress or rodent chewing.

They are supposed to be lifting it today, but not looking good at moment, I’ve just been and run fault code which are plentiful 👎

I would say you have damaged cables 'in' or near the TCM connector.

You have a lot of "Ux xxx" codes which are all communication errors on the Canbus system. In themselves U codes are not normally a fault but are the result of a problem on the comm's network.

You need to unplug the TCM and open up the connector plastic backshell. Check for damaged, corroded or broken wires or connector pins.

This TCM connector was on an Ecosport automatic.

Well @TomsFocus "great minds think alike"

So today I decided to investigate the two connectors for the TCM. To gain as much access as possible I fully removed the airbox as you earlier suggested. Then from under the wheel arch I disconnected the 'Red' connector and pulled the harness and connector up in to the engine bay. Take a look at the photos to see what I found........

I can only see one plug going into the box/tcm at the front right up against the fan housing, this thing has more wires than a Boeing 747 I’m sure , looks like the wiring goes to another module under the front arch lining ,

I have a feeling this is going to be expensive right at  the wrong time

Hi I had this fault this morning on my Ford ST Line X 2023, it started when I was out I came back to the car went to start the car and it all went dead. Had a look at the battery terminals and pulled them and I heard a click from the engine, and the car came back to life. On the way home I had many warnings coming up and the car even cut out at one point and then came back to life, the dash went blank at one point. When I got it home I cleaned the battery terminals and reclamped the battery and fingers crossed it's been all OK since. There was some corrosion on the negitive terminal which I put it down to the fault.
