Is your mk6 gutless on the motorway up inclines? 2015 100hp

Featured Replies

Got a 2015 ecoboost 1L (100hp), only had it a few weeks got it from a Ford dealership, and it’s horribly gutless on the motorway, especially when going up the slightest inclines.

Could be doing 70/75 and the moment a slight incline comes up the car will start slowing and I’ll need to drop a gear.

Can anyone with the same car tell me if the car is really this gutless or does mine have a problem?

cheers

So that would be a Mk7.5 here in the UK

...but not necessarily a 1.0 ecoboost. Granted my previous Mk 8 1.0 was a 140ps, though they all have similar torque, but it pulled pretty well up motorway/dual carriageway inclines, normally without dropping from 6th. Mk 7.5 is a bit lighter than a Mk 8, too.

What Oliver describes sounds more like the behaviour of a normally aspirated car, like the old 1.25 my Mrs had.

Hard to tell without experiencing it for yourself, but I'd be inclined (pardon the pun) to suspect an issue unless previous car was something a lot more torquey thus making the 1.0 feel a bit weedy.

Suspect one way valve from the vacuum pump to the solenoid, the solenoid itself or the vacuum pump is going down

Check the MAF sensor is clean, the air filter is clean and the air cleaner is not damp.

Check all boost hoses for leaks/splits

When were the spark plugs last changed?

Yes, if there is an issue there are several threads on here on a similar topic, with a variety of causes identified ranging from relatively minor (sensors, etc) to serious (failing turbo linked to lack of oil pressure due to blockage from wet belt deterioration).

If a recent main dealer purchase, I'd be inclined to get back there.
