'Remote features disabled' Ford app problem?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Sorry if this topic has appeared before. I bought a 21 plate Fiesta hybrid yesterday at 19,000 miles. After a drive of about 50 miles of mixed motorway and city driving I got the message 'remote features disabled to preserve battery, remote features such as stop/start, lock/unlock are unavailable' on the Ford Pass app.

I took it out for another drive and when i parked up and got out the car I got the same message. I was close to a Halfords so took it there and they checked the battery and everything was fine. They even told me not to waste my money on a new battery as there's nothing wrong with it. The car drives fine and everything works as expected including stop start.

When i got back home i did not get the Remote features disabled. But now have a 'drive your vehicle to reconnect fordpass and exit battery saver mode' on the home page.

Is this an app fault? I'm no car expert but i'm presuming these messages are about the normal car battery under the bonnet? which is fine, and if there was a problem with it the stop/start would not work (like what happens on other car stop start batteries when they get low, the stop start is the first thing to stop working).

Cheers all

It is very likely that the State Of Charge (SOC) of your battery is low.

Wise words from Halfords.

Driving your car will only charge the battery to a maximum of 80% no matter how far you go. Put the battery on charge for at least 12 hours, longer if possible. Use a smart charger like Maypole and make sure to connect the charger negative lead to the chassis earth point (NOT the battery negative terminal).

Maypole Smart charger (other makes are available):
