Advice/Info on the Fiesta ST-Line 100PS

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I know absolutely nothing about cars. I have just purchased a new (73 reg) Fiesta ST-Line 1.0L. Is there anything I need to keep an eye on or manage to ensure my car doesn't get any avoidable issues? Any common problems I should know about?

Thank you

Should be fine, just keep it maintained, 2yrs 20,000 miles (or 18,000) don't fall for the "you still need an annual check" scam, they just fetch the sandwiches in it and take a video of your tyre treads

As far as we know the 100ps is still the "wet" belt version and an oil/filter change annually is still a good idea**. I used to get this done on my 1.0 as a "package deal" with the annual check for a very reasonable price at my small, family owned, local Ford dealer. The big chains may not be so helpful, though.

The annual check can still be worthwhile if the 12 month extension to Ford Breakdown assistance is valuable to you, check carefully before booking as not all dealers (including some of the big chains) participate in the scheme.

Edit: **That is assuming a long term ownership, but if only intending to keep the car for the length of a typical 3 year PCP, you might be inclined to just stick to the recommended service interval.

@Eric Bloodaxe Thank you for this. Is there a way to know if it is the wet belt version?

  • Pretty sure it will be, but see images below. The wet belt version (top) has the turbo at the front (beneath the prominent shiny metal heat shield), the other (chain cam drive) version (bottom)  is reversed, turbo at the rear. (Might not have the black engine cover shown in the pic).
