Focus 2011 Mk3 Titanium X Dipped beam fault

Featured Replies

Hi all, I've had a look at a few posts regarding this issues on here, but nothing seems to work for me.  I have the Mk3 Titanium X and got a fault with the drivers side dipped beam.  The issue started because after buying the car from a 2nd hand dealer I noticed condensation building up on the inside of the drivers light unit, and sure enough we started to get a Headlight malfunction warning.  I took the light out and found that one of the grommets to get at the bulbs was missing, so clearly water was getting into the light unit.  And sure enough when we took the unit out there was a ton of water in there.

I drained the water, and dried out the unit and we're still getting the issue. (I've got a replacement grommit now)  All other lights work, it's just the dipped Bi-xenon bulb.  We got a replacement bulb (how much!!!) and still have the issue.  I've seen on here and elsewhere about checking the fuse for the driver side dipped beam, however as you can see from the pictures, the fuse box diagram in the manual looks completely different to what's actually in the car!!

Does anything with the same model have a "real" fuse diagram, or indeed am I barking up the wrong tree with trying to find a fuse for the drivers side dipped beam.

For info the passenger side dipped beam is working fine, and as mentioned above all other lights on the drivers side are working fine too, it's just the dipped beam.  As you can imagine there was some corrosion due to the water which i cleaned off the best i could.

Any help would be appreciated as having no dipped beam on the drivers side this time of year isn't great!

That manual is for a Mk2 Focus.  If you look at the 'dash' page images you'll see they're totally wrong for your car.

The Xenons on the Mk3 aren't fused individually so the problem lies elsewhere.

Great, nice of the dealer to give me the correct manual......

Hey, did you solved the problem? I have the exact same issue with my wifes mk3..

9 times out of 10 if you lose a xenon bulb and it's not the bulb it's the ballast.

Hi, yes it was the Ballast in the end! Picked one up from E-bay thanks to @unofix's help on another thread and it's now all sorted!
