Child safety anomaly, immobilizer Anomaly please help

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, i was wondering if someone can help me with this issue i have for a couple of weeks i get an error code on my instrument cluster ford c max 1.6 tdci duratorq 2010-> ( CHILD SAFETY ANOMALY service required ) or on rare occasion (immobilizer anomaly) The Cluster shuts itself down no gauges or light no indicators only the mesage. It turns itself up again and then the error appears again after a while , sometimes 1 day sometimes 10 times /trip. I would have taken the car to service but they are booked untill February. So far i have -changed the battery - reset the BMS - disassembled the dors and cleaned the plugs for central lock modules and the ajar plugs,-checked the BCM plugs for corrosion, cleaned the mass wire desasembled the instrument cluster and soldered the plug pins. The report from forscan i will atack it here, it tells me about a short coming from the sun roof but the car doesn't have one. Thank you kindly if you are willing to HELP ME im desperate

Faulty instrument cluster. Bad solder joints is common on a 2010 model.

@rd457 ??

Looks like a Mk2 C-Max. I haven't ever looked at this cluster type before, but I suspect from manufacturing starting ~2011 that it's probably not going to be a model affected by cracked joints. I can't find anything useful through google showing cracks having been found by anyone. Plus he says he's actually tried stripping his cluster down and resoldering the joints already.

The active DTCs seem to be primarily focussed around the BCM - a BCM PATs issue, the BCM believing there to be a mechanical steering issue, the BCM detecting intermittent shorts to both battery and ground on pins for an unused sunroof circuit, and the FCDIM experiencing a comms failure with the BCM. Otherwise HVAC had a comms failure with the IPC (also on Mid-CAN?), and the audio system detected a short.

I'd suspect there's an overlooked issue at the BCM. Why exactly this is causing cluster gauges to not work I've no idea.

Yes i have  resoldered the connector pins on ipc even if they were fine, could it be the new battery is also bad ? Or the short trips make my battery discharge and detect low voltage? Then when im driving a longer trip to activate the hight voltage? I have been talking on other forums to and people are reporting same problem even when the car was new , the ford here in france told them its their seats that is throwing these codes could it be the culprit? The ipc i see its new 65k km probably the ex owner has changed it. Still didn't resolve the issue and a specialized diagnostic will not resolve it. The bcm is cutting the power off to ipc and i have no idea why. One thing i notesed is that while i was siting in the car and worked the driver  window down engine not started only button on the error starts And if the car is licked or siting the error goes away after 10 minutes or so. Were i love there are no experts for these kind of things unfortunately that's why im searching.

Looks like can bus issue , usually at the instrument cluster or at the BCM/Fusebox or it’s plugs in the passenger footwell.

I have just checked the central configuration and it seems that i had the option with the sunroof on even that the car doesn't have one mounted, as shown in the Diagnostic report it shows a short circuit, i have disabled the option and i will see it the problem persits. Could this be the problem? Because every time i tried to test the Bcm i got the same  errors coming from the sunroof

Hello everyone untill this day i still haven't figured out what it is.the problem also i have recently replaced the battery with a silver dinamoc varta 85a-800cca.  From what i have observed over the time the error ocurs when the battery is charged at 80% (smart charging system) for some reason this could be a safety feature either low voltage or hight voltage something posable the Ecu trigger this feature -cluster go in safe mode, fan speed dim also the front screen from the autoradio dim and the volume to, it tries to wake up but it goes back and sometimes vanish , if i let the car to seat for 2 hours or if i discharge the battery The error disper and the logo of ford is back on, the error is present and go away even if the car is not started and closed.my next step is to change the alternator it is possible that voltage fluctuation or noise comes from the alternator or posible a bad cominication between the Lin wire conected to the Ecu. I have checked and cleaned most of the plugs with no joy. I also went to ford and they warned me that could cost over 2000 euros just for diagnosis because the error is intermittent so im not stepping there anymore my guts tellme its the charging system I don't think its the bcm posible the alternator or the BMS if someone had this problem please help 🙂 here is a link to show you what it dose

Hmm, I can see better what you mean now. It's like power supply to the cluster is intermittent, it's off then boots up as though power has been connected (illuminating needles, moving them up to point where they should be pointing, turning on warning/info lights, making a bong noise), then looses it again. Yet oddly throughout the LCD remains on and the yellow light centre-bottom remains on. (I'd ignore the white background illumination which may just be receiving power from the light circuit).

I've still never handled one of these units so I don't know how they behave when powered on, but some models, like those from the Mk2 Focus have multiple pins on which they receive power, a permanent one, one through the ignition when in position 1/2, and one through the ignition when in position 2/3. Thus it can receive extra power when ignition is switched on, and it can detect ignition position between on and trying to start the engine.

Again, I don't know how things work with this particular model, and I can't put too much thought into this right at this precise moment, I've got stuff to get on with, but perhaps there's a fault somewhere along one of the power supply wires. Or, maybe there's a fault somewhere on the board, maybe simply a bit of grime somewhere, that's causing intermittent power to portions of its circuitry.

rd457 i have finally fixed the problem took me 9 months but i want to live the fix because most of the posts i have seen note actually fixed the problem. So went to ford they told me because its a intermitent fault the repair could go even as 2000 Euro wich is absurd, i have changed the battery again with a varta silver dynamic, still no joi so finally i decided to change the alternator even that it was charging and working properly , and that was the problem ive i staled a valeo oem and everything works perfectly no more errors, after i installed the new i opened the old one and noticed the one of the brushes almost worn out also the slipring. Im guessing that  when in Load the car ecu notice the strain on the alternator and enters in some kind of power save mode not to kill the alternator, i have monitored it and  the charging was good all the time i had an external voltage indicator on all the time, so yea the Alternator was the culprit
