ESP light staying on

Featured Replies

Hi ford focus owners,

On Boxing day my ESP light came on and stayed that way. I have scanned the car (2008 1.6 petrol automatic) ForScan  gave a code of C1288-E0 see attached txtdoc .

It say's Brake Pressure Sensor which is internal to the ABS module. I don't have an ABS light on it goes out emediatly I am getting on in years (73) and don't feel I can tackle removal of the ABS to send away for repair

and then to refit it. I don't trust the garages around me to not just get a used part, so was going to drive to Exeter  190 miles away to a ABS specialist who removes rebuilds and refits in around 3 hours.

But before I undertake that journey I thought I'd ask If any of you guys had had the same problem

If you're a 73 reg you should be young enough to tackle an ABS unit. In fact you may be a little too young 🤣

Seriously, I think your plan may be quite a sound idea. Unless you can find someone closer to you that can repair and refurbish the ABS unit, I think taking it to Exeter may be the best choice. If they are willing to remove and refit the unit then it's a 'one stop shop' and if something goes wrong then they can't pass the buck.

Once you get the ABS unit working again, please call back to the forum and let us know how things went.

I wish I could do it myself. I live in a flat and we are are not allowed to work on vehicles in the car park.

I think the Exeter plan is a no brainer £275 + vat and done and dusted in one day!

I had not realized it was such a common fault until I started to research on google. Turns out it as common as the instrument cluster problem, which I had just a few weeks ago I takled that myself was a great success.😁

Thank you for your reply.
