DRL issue

Featured Replies

My DRL ain’t working at night there yellow during the day u can’t see them.

i changed the LED module on both lights and im still having the same problem.

could this be an actual issue with the headlight itself??

or am i missing something

DRL are designed not to work when the headlights are on. Some models do just dim the DRL's when the headlights are on rather than turn them off completely.

With the headlight switch set to 'Auto' and the ignition 'On' the DRL's are both off completely ? 🙁

That does sound like you have a problem. It would seem quite a coincidence for both sides to fail at the same time. I'd start by using FORScan and checking to see if there are any DTC's stored for the lights or BCM.

If one of the DRL's has gone faulty and is drawing too much current then the BCM will turn off the circuit to both sides, and a trouble code will be stored.

Do you have to buy a scanner??

No, but you will need ForScan installed on a laptop (basic version is free). @unofix is an expert on the software, and I hope he doesn't mind me publishing a recent post of his explaining what you need. Yes. it may seem a bit of expense, until you calculate the hourly rate of a Ford dealer!

RAC scanned my car and this is the only fault that came up

DOOR MODULE Name: PASSENGER DOOR MODULE - PDM DTC: B1D06,Left hand direction indicator circuit

indicator works fine but highly doubt this has anything to do with it

The RAC and other motoring organisations use a generic code reader because they are dealing with many different makes of manufacture.

If you want all of the Ford specific codes then you need to be using FORScan.

Both the left and right indicator circuits are connected to the DRL's. When you operate the indicators the BCM will dim the DRL on the side that the indicator is working. So a fault with the indicator circuit can affect the operation of the DRL's.

As I've said earlier, if the BCM detects a fault on one of the DRL's it will shut down that circuit. Try disconnecting the LH headlight/indicator and see if the RH DRL turns on as normal.
