Hopefully I can find out more info on the wiring in the hatch back boot. Does anyone know if there is an always on 12V live feed in the boot, if so where? I can piggy back from the fuse box, but don’t really want to be running cable from front to the boot

No, there is not a constant live supply in the boot.

Cheers, will run a live from the fuse box

Hello my friend, first of all, thank you very much! You have already helped me a lot! I'm just about to install a DSP in my Ford and need the cable assignment from the b&o amplifier, which cables the loudspeakers are connected to. Do you have a wiring diagram? Thanks to Jesus Christ and your help, I was able to find the connector number on your photo, c4366a, c4366c c4366d. I drive a Ford Focus ST line MK4 year of construction 12. 2018
Thank you very much and best regards:

Hello everyone.

I'm on the hunt for a diagram of the HUD display. Could someone lend a hand? I need to check out the wiring harnesses and connectors for both the dashboard and the central console. By Focus MK4 2018-2022

Thanks again

How did you go on with your install Sam?

Im looking to add BLiS to my mk4 2020 ST Hatchback so also gathering the required hardware etc.

As far as Im aware I need :-

• x2 N/S/R & O/S/R Radars/ quarter panel brackets with loom to wire to the gateway module

• N/S & O/S BLiS suitable mirror glass with wiring to the door modules for the warning LED’s

• Access to Forscan to activate BLiS and Cross Traffic with similar built model files.

Any hints and tips to help me on my way much appreciated.

There should be a thread about it. Anyway, I was retrofitting about 3 month ago.

1) There are two types of radar modules. One for HB one for wagon. You can search on second hand market using part numbers since this module is in other Ford cars. E.g. wagon has same as Puma.

2) Both modules are exactly the same, left-right are set by additional ground wire in the connector on the right side.

3) You need connectors, they are the same for years, so just search for a BLIS connector for any Ford.

4) You need to solder the loom anyway, so there are power, ground and CAN. CAN wires shall be twisted.

5) BLIS modules are connected to MS-CAN, same as the front door modules. If your car is equipped with the trailer module or the power tailgate, you can easily find MS-CAN at the right rear side of the car, close to the rear headlamps. If not, the best will be taking them from the loom going to the front doors on each side and put them along the car to the back on both sides. Plastic trims are not hard to open, one behind seats can not be unmounted without unmounting the seats, but you can easily put cables under it.

6)  Wagon is better, I was able to mount modules without unmounting the rear bumper, just removed bottom black part of the bumper. Try to look under, if you see the place for BLIS, probably you can do it.

7) Close to the modules, you will find rubber caps, remove them to outside (pull), put the loom with connectors through it, and put it back from outside, then solder the loom inside the car.

8 it is good to by a special  tape to wrap around all cables inside - kind of cloth tape.

9) Module has many specific settings like angle, car length, mounting heigh. You need to find a car with factory fitted BLIS which is similar to your car, that is same type: wagon/HB/STline/ST.  Using VIN of similar car, download AsBuilt calibration and use it for your modules. Then update VIN to match your car.

10) Mirrors, I was a bit lucky, one of my mirrors had unused cables. The other had to have cables added.

This is the connector you need for mirrors: https://www.tme.eu/pl/details/02r-jwpf-vsle-s/zlacza-automotive/jst/

Pins you need to add to the mirror connectors. This is such a kind of connector pin you need: image.thumb.png.45a37b857c964bb00a3ec83dd556eb3a.png

Lot of reading 🙂. There are more details but at the moment that the most important.

Thank you Piotrmod this is most helpful 👍🏼

@piotrmod Do you happen to know the part number/s of the brackets that sit below the lights on the hatchback version for the modules to be fastened to?

Im not sure if these are currently present behind the bumper but I expect not.

Brackets are there. One problem less 😉

Oh Really, on every mk4 Focus model?

@piotrmod Ok I have sourced partial hardware

1x O/S drivers BLiS mirror (10pin)

1x N/S passenger BLiS mirror (10pin)

2x JX7T-14C689-AE Side protect radars incl. wiring connectors/ loom.

Both radars come with a loom and relevant connectors (Power +, Ground, CAN high & CAN low cable - 4 wires on one & 5 on the other for the additional ground to distinguish L from R) the loom also has the above wires run to a 6 pin connector.

My questions now are:-

1/ Im assuming the cable loom that connects into the 6pin radar connector is only present on models that requested BLiS or towing electrics so I will need the relevant Power +, Ground and CAN supply from elsewhere - can I find a jumper loom or do I have to make a bespoke loom to run straight to the BCM for CAN or should these be wire tapped elsewhere, Im sure I saw mention of the radars being able to run to the door modules on empty pins for CAN and Power and ground from elsewhere?

2/ The 10 pin mirrors will be a direct swap, though again I suspect my current  connector to my existing mirrors that runs from the Door Control Module (DCM’s) will only have 8 pins (power fold in/return, heated, puddle lamps, indicator & adjustment).

Will I need to add the additional 2 pins for the BLiS LED warning ⚠️ into the Door Control Modules or will these pins already be present?

And do these only have to be wired to the DCM’s ( pin 3 & 10) or must they be wired beyond that and through the door loom connector to elsewhere?

Once I have the loom wires/connectors/pins fettled Im hoping I’ll be ready for the BLiS and Cross Traffic activation in Forscan - another mine field of an obstacle.

Thanks Piotr

1) You mention HB is car of yours! These are for Wagon/Estate! For HB, modules have perpendicular connectors! See:

2) Mirrors are the only part to modify/replace. Doors loom most probably is ready. Just open with bare hands your mirror caps, unconnected mirrors and check what you have in these positions on the door side, probably the wires are there.

3) If you have already nice connectors for your modules, with these 6-pin molex connectors, just buy 6-pin molex male (easy to get, very popular)  and build your installation up to these connectors. It is always good to have "disconnect" option in case of any body rework.

4) You need to find MS-CAN somewhere. The obvious point is loom going to front doors. Then you need to "clip on" with some IDC (insulation displacement connector) or simply solder to them.

I got it from here (BCM is on the left, I'm LHD!):

image.thumb.png.cf8e078065a80c7f1114b96335dabb34.png

if you decide to make all cables on one side only, the you will need to do some wires over the tailgate, which is a bit non-standard but will work. As I said, normally CAN is traces on both sides. I did one side, it is working and I think that it is ok too.

5) You need  ground. Ground you can find a bolt somewhere close to the tailgate, use 8mm "eye" on the wire. It is this "G304"

image.thumb.png.04c16c7c5d6ec315703d1520bb06b9e2.png

6) Power normally is from fuses F4 & F14 of BCM, these are fuses for door modules. You can simply use PDC power which is F3, you can find this power in the PDC loom on the back.

7) Don't worry about Forscan, that is simple. I can guide you once you will get all hardware done.

8/ I use high quality (3M) IDC with gel, not expensive. You can find them here (and molex too):   https://www.tme.eu/gb/details/sl-ub-2a/quick-splice/corning/1024393-ub2a-box/

Hmm ok these were advertised & sold as being suitable for the Focus mk4/4.5 HB & Puma which I believe is shorter in length than the Estate/Wagon.

Are these in your opinion of no use, does it matter that the connectors don't plug in perpendicularly? If thats the case I have a slight set back.

Appreciate the help

Imo, you can not use them on HB. For some reason, they are different, probably there is not enough space for straight connector.

Yeah I can see why that might be an issue for chasing the wires through the bracket or car body. However several sellers do advertise these on ebay as being compatible to both the Hatchback, Estate and even the Puma. The only caution they advise is that the in car loom/harness may be of a length not suitable to the HB if the estate one is used. So Im going to try them and if not its no big deal to change them to the CE version.

So 🤞🏼 fingers crossed.

Its definitely going to be tight, not sure if im happy with were the cables will seat above near the bracket (image :overlay of Puma sensor in a Focus hatchback).

@piotrmod

Why do the sensors have 8 pins but only have 4 or 5 wires connecting to them. Do you know the part number or where I can get hold of the female plug for them from.Is there a specific loom like there is for the Puma ones?

You’re in a Ford Focus BLiS thread here so not likely to get answers on matters relating to the Ford Mondeo model.

Have you tried doing a search for your answers in the Mondeo section.

unfortunately not
