Flickering light over fuel gauge

I've recently bought a 2012 Ford Galaxy Zetec TDCi (automatic).

When the instrument cluster behind the steering wheel is illuminated, the light over the fuel gauge (and top left of the speedometer) flickers.

The rev count and other lights are fine, which makes me think that it's not a fuse or battery issue.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any recommendations on fixing the issue?

My local garages aren't keen to take on the repair, so it might need to be a DIY job.

Faulty LED unit, you'd have to send it away for repair, probably not worth it
