Good recommendations Roger but those cars have a CVT gearbox. Not to everyone's liking.

They've moved on a bit since the DAF Daffodil and the rubber bands😀. I've been quite impressed with the Toyota e-cvt, and the Honda equivalent, on test drives.

The 1.8 can get a bit "screamy?" if you want to get going and can take some getting used to, but the 2.0 is a delight and well nippy when pushed.

My friend has a Yaris Hybrid, not quite the same, I know, but he get 70MPG urban out of it.

I'm a lover of the Lexus UX250H which has the 2.0 litre engine. Its a compact SUV but gets slated for being too small. What do those stupid testers want out of a compact SUV ffs. I've had a few as courtesy cars and one on loan for a few days. Me and my better half were gobsmacked how much luggage I got into that car and with a passenger in the back. And yes it shifts when floored lol. Ultra impressive.
