Hope someone can help 🙂

I have attempted to update the software via USB but I assumed that when the Software Updating message disappeared, that the update was complete!

There is no logfile, so I guess it wasn't!!

Currently, if I look at the About Sync it shows
Software Version 3.0
Build_20204_PRODUCT

Can anyone shed any light as to whether this is the latest version 2.3.17109

As I thought it was finished, I removed the USB (which has loads of new folders but no completion logfile).
Am I able to reinsert the USB and make it complete the update?

Run the update again, it will finish quickly and install the log file to your stick

It doesn't seem to detect it - 

Should I delete the interlog folders or recreate the usb before retrying? It doesn't seem to do anything when I insert the same usb?

Reformat stick,

Download and install update again, it should work

Ensure that you wait until the update complete popup shows before you switch the car off and remove the usb

Worked great thanks - now I have to update the maps (that I never use!)... should I bother!! LOL

I wouldn't, maps takes forever

I did try... it failed and now my carplay spotify only lists artists up to B... maybe it has run out of storage with a part run update.. or maybe it was always a problem!! Anyway.. I guess I'll have to try again!

I do have a long drive due (4 hours)... hopefully that's long enough!! 🙂

Yes, that's enough, it takes about 50 minutes.

Remember to run it again after it's finished to write the log file properly

So do you mean I should run it, until it says it's installed. Then remove and reinsert the USB?

Update failed!! Now I get PKG_ERR03 every time I insert an update USB.

Tried reformatting, redownloading and extracting... makes no difference!

Everything seems to still work, with the exception of the CAUTION messages have stopped and Spotify only seems to index from A-B - I'm guessing there is a lack of storage due to partly downloading updates maybe!

Any ideas what I should do now? I wish I hadn't bothered!! 🙂

I'd recommend if you still want it updated is to try through cyanlabs using their reformat tool, most likely to work due to it completely reinstalling the firmware and maps rather than trying an in place update.

Was just going to recommend the same thing.

Follow Cyanlabs instructions to the letter and you will be on 3.4

They have a program you can download that does it all for you, including reformatting the USB correctly

I am just downloading all the files - I just wanted to check, in the question below, am I just supposed to choose the latest version of Sync and F12?

(I currently have Sync 3, 3.0, Build_20204_PRODUCT and Maps F6.1

I've used Cyanlab software to create the USB so 100% happy that is ready to do.

I don't want to mess this up.. so please can I confirm:

1) Turn on engine
2) Insert USB
3) Wait for message about updating software
4) Now I can drive car
5) Don't switch off until update is finished

Sound ok?
Should I turn off STOP/START or is that not an issue?

Yes,

But,

IIRC you get the message quite quickly that it's completed, like 5 minutes, but it hasn't.

When you see the message, stop the car, stop the engine, open the driver's door and let the Sync go off.

DO NOT remove the stick

Start it all back up again and it will start updating again, this time it will take ages (about 45-50 minutes)

Then it will be done
