Mk2 - Engine Undertray - Missing?

Featured Replies

Should there be an Engine undertray? When I looked under I don't see one? Alarmingly I see some cable ties from the corner of the bottom of the bumper!!

Going to check the parts diagrams and see as well.....but if anyone can advise it would be appreciated. 🙂

Some on ebay that look the same, from about £35.

I have one in my back garden.  Been there since last time I did oil and filter.  One less thing to remove.  No harm without it and I drive up a lot of farm tracks, glens, etc when away hillwalking, etc and, touch wood, no damage to car sump pan or anywhere else underneath where the belly pan would cover.

It depends on the engine/model

They weren't fitted to everything I don't think

@DaveT70 thanks for getting back to me, how would I confirm? I've looked at the minor feature codes when I type the VIN but there is no mention of Engine undertray.

What is the model and engine spec?

Engine Code: Q7DA 1.8 FFV (Petrol / E85)

They were mainly used on diesels for better aerodynamics.  That reduced the CO2 emissions to get into a lower tax band.  (£30 a year in the case of the 1.6 TDCI - I dread to ask how much it is on the 1.8 petrol nowadays!)

I didn't think the 1.8 petrol came with one, but if Bar72s did then either I'm wrong or theirs was retrofitted.

I reckon not for 1.6/1.8 Petrol

£290.

Just reminded me my tax is due at end of month.  £290 is an absolute joke for a 123bhp petrol.

Further on the undertrays, I almost always discard them as it's an extra hassle when doing the oil every 5,000.
