2009 1.4TDCI

Featured Replies

So my wife’s 1.4TDCI has the usual no power issue. EGR has been changed, turbo ok. Having had it apart yesterday the thing will how not start, plenty of fuel, turns over fine but won’t fire. Any ideas please. Possibly crank sensor but I haven’t been anywhere near it.

Had what apart?  If the fuel system was opened it'll need manually priming now.

Plenty of fuel, all bled up, won’t fire

I still don't know what you had apart?

May be as simple as having left a sensor unplugged but need to know what area it was in to narrow that down.

Most cases i have encountered with loss of power is down to MAF sensor.

Was car running before EGR was replaced ? i assume so  "my wife’s 1.4TDCI has the usual no power issue"

I believe they can be a pain to bleed if you have interfered with fuel system, however i had no problems after removing my injectors and replacing leak of kit etc.

If it was the waffle sprocket he could be in serious trouble 🤣

Had the air box off, fuel filter, disconnected the engine loom. Nothing is unplugged and fuel is bled. Throws up a P0652 error

Ah, P0652 is a pain.  Proper diagnosis for that is wiring checks at every 5v sensor.

Would definitely check the MAF & EGR are plugged in correctly.  Would also check the large round multiplug on the front of the engine loom.  That one's known for causing poor connections.

Also wondering if the battery could have drained while you've been working on it.  Might be worth trying to jump start it.

Thanks Tom, just about to do through the plugs now and check for voltage, I did find a dodgy pin on the big plug which I was convinced must be the problem, but unfortunately not! I’m sure it has to be something to do with this plug…

In my previous career as a wireman, electromechanical fitter, my colleague Dave was an ex honda mechanic in York. Honda had a cull as they closed a dealership and Dave moved to a larger independant garage.

I mentioned to him (during lockdown as we were producing o2 4g network power cabinets) that i was going to service the Fusion.

He shuddered and his eyes rolled - explaining he once serviced a mk6 fiesta 1.4TDCI and couldn't get it running afterwards due to an air lock in the fuel system - after what seemed endless trying and bleeding, having to recharge the battery too he actually destroyed the starter motor.

Apparently they had to tow it off a certain distance to get it going again.

I am a member on the Faceache fusion group and the problem has been mentioned there too.

However i have never had P0652 myself, but as other more experienced members above have mentioned to throw a code is electronic related, maybe a cable has been broken on the egr - i know its a pain to get at...

My last problem was egr failure but also a repeated maf sensor failure and had to purchase a vlinker cable with forscan to narrow down my issue as i was going around in circles.
