Fiesta spare wheel

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I’m after a spare wheel for my 2016 Fiesta, it is fitted with 15 inch wheels tyre size195/55 R 15,  I’ve asked at Lookers Ford dealership and they are saying the spare space saver should be a 14 inch wheel. Surely this cannot be correct, any information greatly appreciated.  Thanks

That is correct.

The difference in diameter between a 195/55 R15 and a space saver 175/65 R14 is only 1.7% (which is approx. 0.4 inch or 10mm)

Remember that the side wall height is a percentage of the tyre width.

  • 195/55 has a side wall height of 107mm
  • 175/65 has a side wall height of 114mm

Although the boys' answers above are not wrong, Ford fit a 14" steel spare because it's cheap, and easier.  You, as you want a matching spare I imagine, should find a matching single wheel on Ebay.

Clearly this allows you to use it long-term, not 'emergency only', and if you have the same make/model of tyre fitted (make sure you don't go for directional tyres) then you can rotate it round the car and your tyres will last 5/4ths longer?  I imagine my maths is wrong, but you know what I mean.

That's certainly another option - a Ford dealer is going to recommend the "official" part.

One issue with a full size spare, depending on the OE wheels, is it may not fit entirely within the well and if so require a bit of packing or a frame to support the false floor, which will be raised and reduce boot space.  This is another reason why Ford (and others) go for the space saver.

Several threads around the forum on ingenious ways to accommodate full size spares.

I would have thought 20mm would be no problem, especially with that thick sound-deadening material fixed to the bottom of the boot carpet....but I haven't tried it myself.

Hi everyone and thanks for your input, I have acquired a 175/65R14 Fiesta wheel to use as an emergency spare, the only concern is it is a full size wheel. Is this ok to use in an emergency option. As said the vehicle has 195/55r15 wheels and tyres.
        Many thanks again everyone

Should be fine. As said earlier in the the thread 175/65x14 was the normal spare supplied.

The one in my previous car (factory option) in fact looked just like a "normal" steel wheel anyway.

Can I slightly hijack this and ask if anyone has a list of the part codes for the space saver kit for 8.5 155 st line.

Keep meaning to get rid of the tyre foam and put a full spare in mine but can't find one where it comes with complete with the clamp & foam insert etc.

I can collect the missing bits over time if I had the correct codes.  Something like the picture on this listing

Got mine on EBay plenty on there 2nd hand, mine was unused nothing wrong with it for the price

The complete Ford  kits (wheel, tools, foam, etc) do come up on EBay fairly often. Probably a lot easier to wait for one (then jump in asap!) rather than try and assemble piecemeal.
