Low Oil Pressure Light on but Oil level is fine.

Featured Replies

Hi all -

So my wife drives a ford fiesta 1.4 2009 and I’ve got a low oil pressure light on but the oil level is perfect. Could this be down to needing a simple service as the oil filter could potentially be blocked up? Or could it be a dodgy oil pressure sensor?

just wondering if anyone has had this problem. The light came on 2 days ago. Would it be ok to drive for a few days until I fix it on the driveway?

thanks in advance

Very possibly. When did it last have a an oil and filter change ?

NO !!

Running the engine with low oil pressure is something you should never do. It takes very little time to cause major damage.

About 12,000 miles ago. So very over due one. Best to do that first tomorrow then and see what it does from there?

That's not that bad, that it would cause low oil pressure.

I would think that you either have a faulty pressure sensor, or you have a failing oil pump. I'd change the sensor first as its easier than the oil pump !!

I’ll do that tomorrow. Service it and change the sensor. See how I get on. I’ll report back tomorrow. Thanks for the advice
