  • Rear Exhaust mounting defective (6.1.2 (a)) - UNSURE WHICH COMPONENT THEY MEAN / COULD BE?
  • Rear Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement both sides (5.3.4 (a) (i)) - - UNSURE WHICH COMPONENT THEY MEAN / COULD BE?

Personally, with an older car, I don't worry too much about advisories but obviously it's your decision how much you decide to fix.

If the CV joint is visibly dirty/gritty then you may as well change the whole driveshaft while it's off for the gearbox anyway.  If the joint is still clean then just fit another gaiter.

Would leave the windscreen personally.  A new screen will get chipped quickly anyway.

Wouldn't replace springs for light corrosion.  Or a shock for light misting.  But yes, if you want to do both, that would clear up those advisories.

Rear suspension pin or bush is the rear lower arm bushes.  I suspect the rusty rear component will be the lower arms.  Rear subframe is what the rear arms bolt to.  Bushes are a pain to replace, easier to replace the lower arm on both sides.  Rear wheel alignment should be adjusted afterwards.

Rear exhaust mount should be easy to see.  There's only one right at the end of the tailpipe which is probably loose.  If not then check the one near the rear box.

Thanks @TomsFocus

Is this the part in question? (Also remind me does the eccentric bolt control toe in / toe out for tracking on this part, and also does the Mk2.5 have adjustable rear camber or not?)

Haven't had a look under the car to check the exhaust hangers / mounting points but hopefully it should be obvious if any have failed?

Yes that's a rear arm.  Although that one looks a slightly odd shape for a Mk2 hatch, so I would double check it's the right part number.

Yes, the eccentric bolt adjusts both rear toe and rear camber at the same time, hence 4 wheel alignment being best practice after replacing the arm(s).

The metal exhaust mounts usually rust and snap off which should be easy to see.

I get the FINIS part number as 1548460 when I put my VIN into ssg.asia

And when I put that number into ebay the genuine part shoes that picture above.

GSF and ECP show similar pictures to that too so hopefully it is correct.

I shall have to poke my head under the back of the car to see if they have rusted and snapped off. Shall try and grab a picture.
