Sync 3 fitting....

Featured Replies

Hello all.

Newbie here. Is there anyone in the south east - Hampshire area that can install sync 3? I have a 2015 focus.

I have the screen/apim so far...

I'm not electrical minded at all.

Thanks for reading!

Depends what your setup is.

Do you already have SYNC2 with navigation?

Has your screen/apim been setup to your cars spec? i.e. Do you have a rear camera, etc.

You'll also need a new GPS antenna. And a new hub if you are going to use an iPhone (IOS) for CarPlay.

I followed this video to fit mine:

Hiya.

Yeah I do have navigation on Sync 2.

Its been sent up for my cars spec.

I have a Samsung, so will be using android. I did purchase a wiring adaptor for the usb, so I'm assuming I won't need it as I'll be using android.

So, it's just the gps antenna that I have to get?

Thanks for your reply.

One more question if ok to ask you 🤦🏼‍♀️

Will I need to replace the usb hub if I'll be running android

I've searched online, but getting mixed answers.

Thank you 😊

I think you only need to change the hub if you use iPhone (IOS), but it's been a while since I changed from Android to iPhone and have since added wireless connection and 15w MagSafe Charger and Mount.

Did you manage to install sync3?

I've not attempted it yet lol...

I had a question but I think I got it now. Sync 2 has got GPS antenna built in and Sync 3 needs external GPS antenna.

Yeah I got an antenna.

I've literally just replaced the puddle lights under the wing mirror to led ones 😁

I can finally say, I have installed it! Considering I've never done anything like this before, it took me just over an hour 😁

Only issue I'm having now, is the usb ports aren't working ☹️

Does reverse camera works?

Mine worked on Android, but had to change the hub when changing to IOS.

Mines android too.

Think the hubs are temperamental as one minute Android auto worked, then it didn't.

Right... Got a new phone cable. Worked fine at first. Android auto came up, after about 15mins or so screen kept cutting off then coming back on. Eventually screen went black and went back to radio (still had sound). Got screen back on, plugged phone back in and looked like it was having a fit. On screen it kept switching between radio and aa, radio was still playing. Is this new usb hub required or something wrong with the screen/apim?

What phone is it? Did you try to restart the phone? My Samsung s23 glitching after update with hdmi cable to TV.

No I didn't think to restart my phone tbh, I have the s23 ultra. I tried to record the screen but my phone wouldn't even record u til I unplugged it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah did a master reset.

Not sure on the others atm. I'll take a pic shorty. Is the build version on the same part as software version? And how would I find out the maps version?

Settings then about Sync.

Your looking for a screen something like this, then scroll down to find the Navigation Maps Version:
