Lack of power, lurching, intermittent injector knock

Featured Replies

Has anyone experienced this?

My 2020 Galaxy EcoBlue Auto recently started to struggle with power and become hesitant to go over 2k rpm. Also started to have intermittent injector knock as well at lower speeds, most noticeable when changing gears. There’s also the case of lurching when downshifting while braking.

It’s with the dealership now as I have a third-party warranty but they’re struggling to replicate the problems so I’m puzzled as to what it could be.

I did have the battery sign go on and off twice recently but I don’t think that could be the culprit of all of those issues?

There's a song in there somewhere 🤣

Charge or REPLACE the battery. Remember to reset the BMS and to charge the new battery for 12 hours.

Afternoon All,

How does one 'reset the BMS' out of interest and what sort of impact does that typically have? Is this something you might expect a garage to have done as standard if changing a battery or would that usually be a 'diy' afterwards?

Thanks,

Sandy

The BMS should only be reset when a new battery has been fitted.

@DaveT70 Apologies, thought you had the same problems as I did.

The car is still with the dealer as they apparently cannot find a fault - not surprised. When I looked at the battery, it looked like it had already been replaced prior to my ownership but considering it's a 70 plate, do you reckon the more likely scenario is alternator or wiring harness?

I never thought a failing alternator/low battery would cause the car to run like a broken record but I guess these cars are quite sensitive

If the voltage is low, the modules start shutting down systems to save power, which can cause faults

Just got the car back from the dealer who said there’s no fault with the car, however, low and behold, the car is adamant to remain below 2000rpm unless you have your foot to the floor, and seems to be always hunting for the right gear, and remains lurchy.

Went to halfords to get the battery checked and the result is to get it replaced - I suppose the battery was the culprit but we’ll see if all of the problems disappear once I do.

Also checked the alternator at the same time but that’s all fine.

I guess the next step is what battery to replace the current one for and whether halfords can reset the BCM. I’m leaning towards halfords as they’re the closest and have a 5 year warranty.

Any suggestions?
