Low oil pressure

Featured Replies

Low oil pressure warning keeps coming up on screen. When I pull over and stop and then start again and drive it disappears. Seems to happen more when idling in traffic

When did it last have an Oil And Filter change?

12 months ago and it's only done 1500 miles since

That's very low mileage.  If is an engine with a wetbelt, it really won't like doing so few miles.  Can you confirm which engine it is?

Also, I take it you've checked the level on the dipstick?

If the ops profile is correct then 2010 will be 4 cylinder .

🤣🤣🤣🤣 perhaps it's the noise the car makes when  driven in autumn through leaves .

Or he got the model year wrong instead. I wonder how you would notice if you had 12,16 or 24hp motor? tumblr_oeogwkdn9s1rkxyk6o2_500.thumb.jpg.98d44156401817303a207d18f649b16d.jpg

Suppose you would attach a bowl of rice pudding with string to the rear bumper.

Yes I've checked the level and it's where it should be. It's a 1.4 petrol engine

Yes I've checked

It would help us all if you would amend your profile. "Fiesta 1.4"

Ok thanks.  That engine should be able to tolerate low mileage.

I'm not sure what to suggest unfortunately.  It could be as simple as the oil pressure switch, which is cheap and easy to replace.

I think I would recommend changing the oil & filter again now, despite the low mileage since the last time.  And perhaps have the pressure switch changed at the same time.

If the warning still comes up after all that work, then there is likely to be a genuine pressure fault, caused by the oil pump or engine wear, and in that case the repair would probably not be economically viable on this car.
