programmed for folding mirrors

Featured Replies

what part of the car get programed to fold the mirrors is it removeable ? im thinking of removing the mirrors from my old car and selling the on so if the programed part can be removed it will go with it so someone can upgrade

think it's stored in the door modules on the Mk2.5.

Everything is removable with enough time & tools.  Though it's a bit of a faff getting to the door modules.  Probably easier for the new owner to enable them in Forscan, unless they were programmed to auto-fold using UCDS?

Suppose you could just remove the whole door with mirrors & modules still fitted.

I had to make wiring mods when I added folding mirrors, an extra wire on each side from module to mirror from memory

are these modules programed to the car ? i cant sell my car so im going to strip all the powerfold mirrors etc out replace with standard and sell folding gear

Expect the modules are programmed to the car as you have to enable the folding mirrors in elmconfig, forscan etc if you retro fit them.

But if you’ve enabled them and then remove all the kit worst case you can disable folding mirrors again and that’s it. In truth if you remove them and don’t disable anything it’s not likely to cause an issue - I don’t think the module self diagnoses that the folding mirrors are present and you’ll not have the door switch pack trying to operate them if that’s removed too.

The modules are specific to the car.  Need to be from another 5 door, and another high spec model, for correct window operation.  Poverty spec 3 door modules won't work (or at least not 100% correctly).  I'm not sure it's worth the hassle though.  How much do you expect to get for the folding setup?

Also what happened to the car in the end?  Did you buy it back with write off status or was it undeclared?

i was thinking £100 for door mirrors and module plus the door switch as mirrors are over a £100 each idid buy it back but have another car the tax went up on it by £60 so thinking of scrapping it such a shame the cars only done 86000 miles
