MK8 Footwell lights issue

Featured Replies

Apologies if this is the wrong section wasn't sure if to post here in fiesta section or modifications section.

Here goes.

I have a 2018 ST Line X Fiesta that I've owned for 2 to 3 weeks, as a few will know this model didn't come with footwell lights as standard so I purchased the full led modules (Not the SMD panels) from enchanced UK and fitted them quite easily with no apparant problems and they looked great.

Fast forward a few days until the first day that I drove in the dark. You can guess what happened... The footwell lights came on with the auto headlights as it got dark!

I really don't like this feature so looked to ForScan which I have the licensed version and cannot see anything to change the settings so the footwell lights will only come on either when you unlock/ open a door or turn engine off ready to get out.

Does anyone know a way to fix this or is there a wire anywhere that I can connect them to so that I only get them on when doors unlock/ open or engine is turned off ?

I have investigated this quite alot over recent days and it seems quite confusing, some people say the lights stay on all the time, some say go off after 30 seconds of being on so not really sure what they are supposed to do.

I'd prefer to programmatically sort them rather than re wiring of course but if I have to I guess I will.

Thanks for any info and advice and be gentle on my first post 😜

No one has a fix ?

In my experience, footwell lighting stays on, but that said, and given that yours are a custom fit, I see no reason why you could not use the main interior lights (which don't stay on) as a signal for the footwell lights. As I'm quit good with electrics and electronics in general, I believe that I could make such a system work, but I can't really guide you. If you're not so good with that, I'd advise that you go see a vehicle electrical specialist, and have them do the job.

Sorry that I can't be of more help.

The footwell lighting in top model Fiestas is just mood lighting.

It doesn't come on/off with the interior lights.

If you want them to do that you will have to re-wire them to the courtesy light circuit from the BCM

Lol. Most of the time mine doesn't come on at all - about as often as S/S works.

Can't say I'm bothered - why would you want your feet illuminated?😀
