Mondeo won’t start after 5-6 months sitting

I'm not sure the glowplug light is still used as a fault light on the Mk4 Mondeo?  I know it was on the Mk3.

It's a relic of the past really.  Old IDI diesels were heavily reliant on glowplugs to heat the pre-cups even in what we'd consider mild outdoor temps.  Back then the glowplug light was directly connected to the plugs.  But when direct injection came in around 1999 (common rail & PD) the plugs were no longer 'needed'.  The light was then just timed based on outdoor temperature to provide comfort to people that still expected to see a glowplug light on before starting a diesel engine.

Hi Tom, yeah I'm unsure whether I was giving good or duff advice, seeing as my experience is just with the mk3.

Hi, I know it’s been a while but we removed fuse f4 and the glow plug light still came on? Is this normal?

Speaking from 12.5 year experience owning a MK2 1.8 TDCi Focus, when tightening the filter housing lid (especially once the housing is old i.e. the one supplied from the factory) you need to get it as tight on as you possibly can. (ask me how I know) 🤦‍♂️

Even the tiniest bit of air ingress and it'll allow fuel to slowly drain back to the tank, and as has been previously mentioned, with no lift pump in the tank, it ain't gonna be happy when you try and start it.
