AC issues MK7 2009

Featured Replies

Hi All

just looking for some advice I’ve just bought my son fiesta style plus and I’ve found an issue with the Air Con when turned on the pump kicks in (the revs go up a little on the engine) but it doesn’t get cold I’ve checked the gas level all ok what I’ve noticed is when the blower’s on setting 4 highest it doesn’t feel very powerful not sure if that’s anything do with the AC not working

open to any ideas if people have them

Have you seen/heard the pump kicking in?  The revs increase when you press the AC button, regardless of the pump coming on or not, so that's not a reliable test.

Second check is the radiator fan.  That should be running constantly with the AC switched on.  It will work without the fan, but not efficiently, so won't get cold.

Third test is to touch the small AC pipe in the engine bay.  It should be ice cold if the system is working.  If it is ice cold, then the problem is likely to be inside the car, one of the mixture flaps not moving correctly or the pollen filter blocked for example.
