Mk2 - Speed Sensor / ABS Wire Broken - Repair?

Featured Replies

Hi so I've just spotted after doing a strut replacement that the Speed Sensor / ABS wire has broken / severed in half.

Can this wiring assembly be replaced plug to plug or do I have to get a replacement wire and splice it in?

I can see the wire goes through the wheelarch but haven't traced it back to where it goes?

Guessing it goes back to a module multi pin plug or to the ECU?

Anyone got the wiring diagrams or could confirm for me please?

Thank you

Ford sell a service harness with the ABS sensor connector on it but needs splicing into the main harness, not a plug to plug section sadly.

From memory the kit includes heat shrink etc for sealing up the repair once done. I had a broken connector on mine but was able to swap this with the new one from the kit without having to make a wiring repair

Thanks @TomsFocus this part shows plug to plug? So would a plug need to be spliced in then to accept this or is it plug to plug?

I've added a link to the TSB instructions above.  You have to cut the plug off and solder it in.

My link wire maybe even came with second plug but it’s a long time ago that I bought it and it’s well buried in my spare’s box now

Wiring diagram confirms it’s wired to multiplug on the ABS/ESP module depending on model etc
