Anyone identify these parts?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what these small rubber items are / where they're from? (key shown for scale).

I have a 2011 Fiesta mk7 (S1600) - found one of these in the footwell a few weeks ago after having the windscreen replaced, & didn't think much of it, but today I've just found another in my driveway as I opened the boot. Not sure how long its been there or if its just dropped off from somewhere recently?

They're flexible soft rubber, looks like they should be for dampening / stopping vibrations or something?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Andy

That could very well be the key: I used to work for a company that used Glass in its production and those could very well be edge protectors, used to keep sheets of Glass from contact with each other. On the other hand, I could be completely wrong, so there's that 🤐

Think your right Rob101..

Seem to remember them in my old passat door to protect the glass window

Thanks for the quick replies:thumbsup:

I'm assuming you mean these will have been packing on the new windscreen to protect in transit etc, not that they should be fitted somewhere in the car now / the repairer didn't fit them when replacing the screen?

Cheers!

That's what I think they are, yes.

It'd be worth sending the photo to whoever fitted your windscreen... Chances are they'll confirm their warehouse floor is full of them, along with trouser pockets etc that gets them grief when the missus does the washing... 😉

I work in the motor trade.  Ive seen those on brand new vehicles delivered (commercials) from the factory.  They are just the edge protectors and we usually just pull them off when valeting for delivery.
