2002 Fiesta 1.4 16v petrol - Clutch

Featured Replies

I replaced the clutch and slave cylinder as well as the drive shaft (Diff) oil seals on both sides, and I have bled the clutch.

The problem I am having is that now everything is back together when I put the car into gear with the wheels off it is making a grinding noise in all gears. Can anyone explain what is happening please?

Probably the discs rubbing against the pads if the wheel nuts are off.  Put the wheels on and try again.

It's not that kind of noise, it's a full on grinding noise. However I will give that a try tomorrow just to chalk that one off. Thank you for replying so quickly

If I haven't bled the system correctly would this cause the same issue, or would it just not go into gear at all?

Is it just a single crunch as it slots into gear or a continuous grind while in gear?

If it's just a single crunch then that could be caused by air in the hydraulic system.  The clutch may not be fully disengaged when the pedal is all the way down.

You were spot on. It was because I didn't have the wheels on and the discs were making all the noise. I wish I asked the question a week ago before I took the drive shafts out for the second time to see if the problem was there. Thank you very much Tom. I feel such an idiot though
