Ford Pass App v5.3.1

Featured Replies

I cannot find anywhere on the Ford Website where I can leave feedback regarding the unwelcome changes to the above app so thought I'd check here to see if there were any reviews. I downloaded an update to the new look Ford Pass app for my iPhone yesterday. It was a big disappointment. The four tabs along the bottom have been reduced to two, namely 'Vehicle' and 'Service'. The initial Vehicle tab shows the fuel level as a percentage without a range estimate. Location can only be used if you consent to Google map use. Am I being cynical in thinking Ford are probably selling user data to Google? Using the Service tab and pressing the 'Vehicle Health' button shows me 'Active Alerts' & 'Status' (Tyre Pressures, Oil Life Remaining & the Odometer reading). At the bottom of the Service tab is the 'Reference' section, this is the one that most disappoints me. It shows 'Service History' and 'Reference Guide'. If I press Reference Guide, all I see is 'Service Intervals', no Owners' Handbooks. If press on Service Intervals, there is a bit of a pause as the app seems to be going online to get the relevant information, sometimes needing consent to cookies, sometimes not. All I currently see is a 'Maintenance Schedule' page which is not unexpected, however, once when I tried this section yesterday and consented to the cookies, I saw the Owners' manual section. I have not seen it since, despite downloading and using v5.3.1 today. I cannot recommend the use of this update in the meantime and have left an unenthusiastic review of it in the Apple Store. Harrumph. 😒

Ford notified that the Owners manual feature was being removed.

No idea how they expect you to look anything up when they no longer provide books with the cars and have removed it from the app and website links.

You can still find the owners manuals on the Ford site through a search engine. But that will probably only be a matter of time before they’re gone too.

The other thing I hate is the fuel level changing to a percentage. It’s much less useful than the miles remaining it used to also show.

I also refuse to allow Google to track my vehicle. So that feature is no longer working for me.

For anyone who has not updated the App, the best thing to is is to not update it.

I have not updated mine and still have the features mentioned in the above two posts on my Android phone.

I did get a message via the App last December telling me that there was a new App out and I should download it and delete the old one after the new one was set up. I didn't do anything and have not heard any more.
