I'm looking to just scotchlock the basic light wiring to my 2006 fiesta ghia, for towing a small trailer, but can't find a simple diagram showing what wire does what? 

L/H wires :  yellow/green, red/white, green/red, green/orange, solid blue, solid black. 

R/H wires : yellow /green, black /green, orange/green, blue/red, solid black, solid orange

Hey Arthur, welcome to the Forums.

Personally, I would not use ScotchLok connectors, rather use Crimp connectors, which is what I used for my DRLs.

Aside from the regular Spade (M & F), you'll also need some '2-way' AKA 'Piggyback' connectors (bottom Left of the picture).

 

As for which wire is for what, either a wiring diagram, or a Multimeter (so that you can see a Voltage reading, when a wire goes 'Live') would be in order; both would be ideal.

That all said, it may not be as simple as simply splicing into the loom. I've never done this kind of conversion on a modern car, but some years ago (like, more then 30, tbh) one also needed to fit a new Relay for the Turn Signals; on a modern car, this may not be needed. I'm sure that someone here will know.
