i am looking to replace the chrome grill on my zetec, as quite simply I do not like it and would prefer a black honeycomb grill. I went to buy one on eBay but was told by the seller that the type he sells are from the diesel version of the car, mine being petrol. He claimed it would not fit and that the clips etc are different. Kind of him to let me know about this as I wouldn’t want to buy a part that would not fit, but is this true? I wouldn’t have thought there would be a difference in the bumper and grill based purely on it being a diesel rather than a petrol

Afaik petrol and diesel would be the same. 

You don't say exactly which trim you have but from mention of chrome grille I assume Titanium or Zetec?

Issue here is that black honeycomb grilles are found on ST and ST Line models which are a different shape.

I believe, but am not 100%, that the black finish grille on the Active models might fit.

 

Hi yeah it’s a zetec that I have. From the pictures it’s the same version of fiesta as I have, though pictures can be misleading.

Strangely, many of these are listed specifically for either petrol or diesel.  I wonder if the radiator is different on diesels so the grill needs to compensate for it.  The pictures do seem to show some with solid sides, whereas others are only solid along the bottom. 🤔

That would be a possibility I guess. Lots of hidden traps in these things, e.g.the ST-Line and ST front bumpers look identical but apparently they're not, to accommodate different intercoolers.

Tbh I thought we were talking OEM grilles here, but the part linked seems to be aftermarket and seems to require painting according to the listing.

Thank you very much ch for the info. I may just need to be very specific in my searches for a replacement 😆 Sadly a lot of what I am finding does not mention whether it’s for the petrol or diesel version.
