Cam /timing belt

Featured Replies

Just after some advice really, my fiesta 1.25 zetec 17 plate has done 75 k miles , the cam/timing belt is due next march when it will be 8 years old. Should I get it done now rather than waiting.

thank you

Having it done will last you another 8 years. Im not sure on the petrol engine milage schedule but if you can afford it and want to then any time is the right time. No harm in doing it early.

Mines the same year as yours Dawn. It's only done 35,000 miles but I'm having the timing belt the oil pump belt and tensioner replaced at the same time as the cam-belt kit. Better safe than sorry.

I would agree with the above replies. My 17 plate 57K tdci will get Belt kit soon. My grandson had his C max done recently £500.

Thanks all, I’ve decided to get it done , will be £370 , not as much as I thought.  I asked about getting the air con regassed that is going to be £170, that sounds a bit excessive to me, anyone had theirs done and know approx price.  Thank you.

Being a 2017 model it may use the newer gas (R1234YF) which is more expensive.

Can still get a regas for £100-£150 at many places though, so I would shop around for that.

Groupon had an offer for ATS Euromaster if there are any branches near your location.

£370 does sound a bit cheap even for that engine.  They may not be replacing the waterpump or aux belt within that cost.

Thank you for that, I’ll check before going ahead 😊

KwikFit currently £134.95 for an R1234YF recharge... (with a money back guarantee if it doesn't work)

Don't have ATS here in NI so never really look at their prices, that's cheap! Do they also give your money back if it doesn't work?

Not sure on that one.  I can't see it from quickly scanning their website but most chains do.  Formula 1 Autocentres definitely do, but don't have any places near me offering the new gas.

I've also just checked ProTyre and they do the R1234YF regas near me for under £90 using the discount code WEBAIR25 so that's the best one so far.  Don't think you have any of those in NI either though.
