Factory Cambelt Brand - 2010 1.6 TDCI

Featured Replies

Hello all,

My uncle, very kindly, handed down his Mk2 Focus 1.6 TDCI.

A warning light came up on its first drive home - I gave it a full service and changed the boost solenoid (my uncle thought the turbo had gone, hence giving me the car for free!). I have also dealt with some of the rust issues.

It has ticked over 130k miles and is 14 years old now - I asked my uncle if the cambelt had ever been changed; his reply was 'I'm sure it has, I don't have any documents for it though'. His friend is a retired master tech for Ford who did all his servicing.

I took a look under the cam cover on the weekend - the belt is Dayco (the fanbelt is also Dayco). It looked quite good. Is this the cambelt brand that comes from the factory? I understand that FoMoCo stamped belts and Gates belts are often factory fit. If the factory belt was replaced with Dayco at some point in its life, it saves me the hassle of changing it immediately...

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks.

The brand was no longer readable on mine at 9.5 years old.  I did replace it with a Dayco belt.  If you can still read the branding then it probably has been replaced.

i replaced mine the belt was  looking brand new but it had the ford logo and part number stamped on it .. replaced  with Dayco
