Help with Headlight issue

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Been having a strange issue with my 2008 Fiesta MK 5 zetec.

I have the lights set to auto, But recently I've noticed when I press my brakes it turns on my headlights until I lift off the break, which has caused some strange looks from other drivers.

When it happens I hear a click comes from the fuse box area behind the passage glovebox.

I checked the fuses before this and one of them was gone and replaced with the correct number fuse. and all the rest were placed back correctly.
So I'm not sure what else in that area could cause this, Only the small 2-pin fuses were checked and I didn't touch the relays.
advice attached a link of it happening, so any advise would be appreciated.

It's a common fault, it can happen to any car.

One of your two brake light bulbs is faulty. Remove both of the bulbs at the same time and then press the brake pedal and see if the front lights come on. If they don't then fit two new brake light bulbs.

I would never have caught that, good to know...

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but I could only get at it today.
But I have to say a massive thank you for the advice unofix.

As soon as I removed one of the bulbs I knew it was the one causing the issue, I checked the lights and they were normal again, Massive thanks for the advice.

One of the rear light bulbs was not inserted correctly into the socket, I didn't notice the groove on the side of the socket.
