Focus Mk4 battery backed sounder B1D17

Featured Replies

I've had two DTCs for a while

B1D17: 08-0A

B1D17: 97-0A

They relate to the battery backed sounder. I don't know if it's the back up NiMh battery, which often seems to go faulty and so is probably the first thing to look at.

But please could someone tell me where it is located? I've variously read it's behind the LH wheel arch lining, the RH wheel arch lining or even at the back of the engine bay.

If behind the wheel arch lining are there any tips to removing this? And any tips to opening up the sounder to replace the battery?

Thanks

Ah yes - the outdated profile! Profile details now updated to match post title 😉

I know where one Sounder is, I've no Idea if it is Battery Backed.

If you open the Bonnet and remove the Plastic Rainwater Guttering Diverter that takes the Rainwater from the Scuttle at the Passenger side and remove the Sound Deadening then there is a Sounder there.

Or 'under the bin bag' for newer models without the rain gutters.

Thanks - looks like it is behind the LHS wheel arch cover.

What a wonderful place to work!
