Removing seats/belts Ford Grand Tourneo Connect

Featured Replies

I need some help, we removed all of the rear seats from a 19 Plate Ford Grand Tourneo Connect and also the seat belt clips on the pillars.  The belts are still there but behind the trims out of the way. The area has been replaced with dog cages.

We are getting error messages, please see attached pictures of both the message and cages.  You can also see the holes where the clips were.

The vehicle will need an MOT at some stage and have already tried the local Ford dealer who said they cannot help.

Is there anyone in Kent that can help?

I've also been told that this can be rectified using ForScan and I see that you can purchase this and download the programme onto a laptop.

Any help appreciated thanks.

Yes, you can turn rear belt minder off in FORScan

Turn it off in the BCM and IPC

Thanks DaveT70, can you recommend which one to purchase as there seems to be a few to choose from.

You will need the Windows laptop version of FORScan (with extended licence) and a vLinker FS cable.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

Hi all, I'm looking for the same thing. I already have Forscan and the OBDLink EX cable, are you able to advise which option to change in Forscan? In my case I have only removed the 3rd row seats. I did look through a while ago and couldn't see anything obvious, but I may have been looking in the wrong place at the time. Hoping to have another go at it 🙂

(Semi-related, but is there a way to save a copy of the car data into Forscan to look through the options without needing to keep it plugged in to the car?)

This is my situation too. Sorry I can’t help hopefully someone can!

Did you get the error when you disconnected the seatbelt wiring btw? I did. I also couldn’t see how to remove the actual seatbelt button thingies from the floor so had to leave them in sticking up and flapping around which wasn’t ideal! Were you able to remove yours and get it completely flat where the back 2 seats were?

Hi, yes I get the error something like "Seatbelt malfunction" with the icons on the dash showing the rear seats with yellow exclamation marks on them. I spoke to one Ford dealer they wouldn't get involved because it was a safety related system they wouldn't touch it.

For the wires I just coiled them up under the floor, I'm boarding out the back of mine as it's for work purposes so I bolted boards over the top as I was too lazy to pull the carpet up and move them to the sides 🙂 I did reuse the original seat bolts to hold my board down though AP1GczOFiN473xMUxj5T-B-qzHfAVOQ8OhCfESg4hbfkK2HuN2XGB0FLUuUgSA=w1560-h878-s-no-gm?authuser=0

I now finally have ForScan and an OBD linker cable. Has anyone figured out which changes to make to remove this warning? Thanks

Sorry I haven't been back, our company has only just purchased the VLinker adapter and downloaded the software.

They have downloaded ForScan onto a laptop, but I don't think they have purchased the extended Licence.  I'll have to ask.

We have the customer coming in today to try and turn off the warning lights.

We removed seats to fit bespoke dog crates that we make.

We have never come across this problem before , we previously removed seats on a similar age Ford Tourneo and didn't have this problem.

We only have Launch and our technician has never used ForScan before and after doing research it looks like you have to change code, but could be tricky if you don't know the code.

We tried to find someone who specialises in Ford with Forscan, but couldn't find anyone in our area.

Any help would be appreciated, if we fix I can post how to.

Thanks

I hope you get a solution and thanks for offering to update us if you do! I ended up giving up with Forscan - I had a look but couldn’t decipher the list of codes and didn’t want to meddle too much.

It’s such an irritating issue isn’t it. Ideally I’d take all the back 5 seats out of mine, but then I’d get 5 ‘?’ Warnings and the ‘rear belt monitor malfunction…’ and fail my MOT!
