Missing Bluetooth Installation Guide

Featured Replies

Hi all,

there used to be a great guide on this forum about retrofitting Bluetooth to toothless Focii but it has disappeared or been taken down or moved. This was the link address:

https://www.fordownersclub.com/tutorials/article/212-retrofit-bluetooth-with-voice-control-and-usb-for-focus-mk25/.

Does anyone know where its gone and can it be restored please as I want to retrofit to my 2010 Focus?

TIA.

On the page that link lands on, there is a 'contact us' option. That would be the quickest way to get a response...

That's disappointing, the site mods are usually on the ball...

why do u need it - I tried it when I did mine and its not any use... the bits on page 3 of the link I gave have necessary detail - I only added my bits to help anyone else - as the others were all rubbish

most cars got no wires

a few earlier cars got the phone only wires

you need the loom I speak off - and ford want hundreds of pounds - if you try hard you can probably today find a fake ford version and won't need to tweak a version of the fake VW retrofit loom I used - (I even updated the ebay loom link for u !!! )

AFAIK my 2010 Titanium has the wiring, see pictures.

I've ordered a Nokia 8M5T-19C112-AK BT module with voice and USB. From what I've seen of the ports on it there's the main loom port and a modified USB mini connector socket and I'm assuming that if I connect a USB mini male plug to USB A socket cable I'll get the USB connectivity. Also ordered a microphone so I should hve these in a couple of days.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember reading that the ECU or BCM need to be told there's BT module in place and this can be done with an ELM 327 cable and ELMConfig or Forscan software. Is the case and if yes how do I do it.

TIA.

an AK might not be a real USB port - there was a switch over on earlier boxes * if I remember correctly the AN is the first with a real USB input port

the earlier ones it was more a propitiatory software update input socket (not a functioning USB for music input)

connecting is pretty simple - something like using EMLconfig, gab your vin in the clipboard - go in a secondhand BCV module and overwrite the old chassis number and - save...

then swap another config page to BCV high (USB and voice) and - save

Thanks for your fast reply Botus.

The BT module arrived yesterday and it's actually a suffix AT version and comes with a mini USB socket. The scrappy must have just been using the AK one just for the listing picture.

Anyway, I connected it to the big blue connector, fitted the microphone, paired with my mobile and tried to call my wife. She could hear me but I couldn't hear anything in the car.

JW1982 in a post on the thread you guided me to wrote that if the wrong loop connector is installed then there'll be no sound. As you can see in the pictures I posted my loop connector is a 'BB' type. JW1982 posted pictures of AA, AB & BA types so do I need a different loop and if yes can mine be modified. I didn't see any loop on the schematic diagram he posted.

Of course there could be a problem with the BT module as well.

The USB cable hasn't arrived yet so I can't check with my iPod to see if that plays. My head unit is the Sony single CD and firmware version is 05-04-03.

Maybe the ECU settings need modifying for it to work?

Any help greatly appreciated.
