Should we walk away

Featured Replies

Hi all, advice please. Son is dead set on purchasing a 21 plate ST line Fiesta mild hybrid. It has 21000 miles on the clock and has full Ford service history. I know its the revised engine with cam chain, but still has wet belt. Should he walk away?

Not if it's in good condition, with a full service history and a warranty.

Any less than that and walk away, yes

There are lots about

Bearing in mind the official Ford service interval is 2 years or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first, the likelihood is FFSH means one oil change so far. You might want to consider moving to annual changes if you proceed with the purchase.

I was thinking, we drive an I30, which also states that servicing is every two years. But, we get it serviced every year. Not a big fan of this every two year stuff.

If it has service history and is in great condition then I would say go for it.
If it has been serviced by Ford then there won't be any paperwork or stamp but it will all show on the Ford app.
Whilst this version got rid of the wet belt and has a timing chain, as you said there is still the oil pump wet belt. As long as it is serviced regularly and correctly, you shouldn't have any issues.

I part exed my 17 plate Fiesta ST-Line 140 for a 71 plate Fiesta ST-Line X Edition 155 MHEV and love it.

Thank you, he's completly in love with the car, wanted one since he past his test. Has had to wait toll he's 21 and finished Uni. I admit as a 53 year old, I like the look as well.
