Engine management light flashing

Featured Replies

Got a 155hp mhev fiesta with 14k miles on a 21 plate.

Yesterday engine management light started flashing after going to about 5000rpm in 3rd and car feltlikein somekindofsafemode. Pulled over checked oil level, couldn't see anything obvious. Started up and all seemed OK and finished last 80 miles with no further issues but concerned now.

Any thoughts?

Needs to be plugged into Ford specific diagnostics to check for saved fault codes.  Either Ford dealer or Forscan.  If you use the FordPass app, it may have triggered a fault warning on there.

If you don't generally take it that high up the rev range it could be a boost leak, weak fuel pump, spark or coil fault, hybrid battery/generator issue, etc.  No point guessing when fault codes can give us a much tighter starting point.

Thanks, it's booked in next Thursday, it was literally 2 days over 3 years old when bought but got a 3 year extended warranty so fingers crossed.

After doing some more digging, it's been suggested it could be wet belt for oil pump. Really, only 3 years old and 14k miles.

It could be many things.  Really is best to wait for the diags before going down a wetbelt rabbit hole.

Highly unlikely.

In at Ford dealers where we got it today. Although fault didn't come up on app it did show on their system.

They changed all 3 plugs (not sure if they could pin point specific 1 or not) but all sorted and no charge. Unsure if they did it under extended warranty or just good will as only had it a month.
