Cam belt

Featured Replies

My car is a 2019 (Sept) Ford Focus 1.5 st line x automatic, with the 182 bhp engine, could some one please tell me if this car has a wet cam belt ,if it’s not a wet belt,is it a external chain or rubber belt and how often should it be changed.

The mileage from new is 39000

Internal chain. Shouldn’t ever need changing. Just the external aux belts will.

Not sure what drives the oil pump on these I believe the early 1.5 Dragon Engines are either chain or geared. Later ones became wet belt I think. Hopefully someone else can confirm.

Ford service sheets are down for maintenance this weekend so we can't confirm the exact date of wet oil pump belt change today.

My info says Jan 2019 was changed over to belt.  That's build date.

Op says sept 2019 but that's most likely registration date.

Oil pump belt is 150,000 miles or 10 years (whichever comes first), I believe. Should be able to find a build date on the rear of the engine like this:

Ironically the only case of failure I've seen with photo evidence was of a gear driven pump version, on another forum.
